Stand-alone Flash-Lite testers

Special vision from Falcon Falcon TopScan AWM system is a special vision machine that allows fully automatic thickness measurement on insulating covers and non-metallic sheathings of electric cables. Developed by Falcon Instruments, the TopScan AWM is the natural evolution of the profile projector or of the measuring microscope, and achieves the following goals: measurement objectivity, results repeatability, time and manpower saving; system’s easy use and conformity with CEI 20-34/1-1.

Larson Systems Inc, USA, is a manufacturer/distributor of compres- sion, extension, length, torsion and wire testing equipment, including the Flash series of spring testers featuring XP software and an intuitive touch screen interface. The company has launched a new range of stand-alone Flash-Lite testers, with all of the internal data gathering and control electronics of the standard Flash testers, but without the computer interface. With the addition of the Flash-Lite PC Interface Control Software program, the testers can be operated from a desktop computer. The Lion gauging system has also been added to the company’s product line. The range of non- contact spring free-length gauging systems includes the Panther and Lynx gauges, which feature accuracy, ease of use and reliability. The following working capacities are further technical-functional characteristics that make this product really exclusive: at the push of a button the system measures the thickness of insulating covers and sheathings giving the single thickness measurements the system is also capable of working with varying height cable samples and with a single parallel plane. This is possible thanks to a particular disposition of the camera which allows the user to acquire the face of the sheathing that is on the bearing surface double interfacing-level with the instrument: the first level is for line’s operators, the second is for a supervisor or for those who are in charge of quality laboratories All the systems of this product line have been developed by the criterion of the ‘Falcon MMI’ interfacing with the user that is based on the concept of ‘press a button and measure’. These instruments have the following metrological characteristics: measurement repeatability: 1/4000 of the field of view. For example, the repeatability of the instrument with a 20mm field of view is equivalent to ± 0.5 hundreths millimetre (0.005mm). Measurement reliability: 1/2000. For example, the instrument reliability with 20mm field of view is equivalent to ±1.0 hundreth millimetre (0.01mm). • • • Petig’s new generation of hydraulic upset testing machines can put customers ahead of the competition for quality control of cold heading wire. The new machines give a maximum upsetting force of up to 6000kN, as well as a maximum shearing force up to 3500kN. Add this to a maximum wire diameter of 55mm, automatic operation and NC-control Simatic OP 270 6" results in a machine to take customers to the next level.
