AOAC INTERNATIONAL, Official Methods Board (OMB) Search Committee

RE: Gabriel Giancaspro, Ph.D., Candidate for OMB Membership

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in support of Dr. Giancaspro’s application for membership to the AOAC Official Methods Board (OMB). I have worked with Dr. Giancaspro in dietary supplements and herbal medicines (DSHM) standards at the United States Pharmacopoeial Convention (USP) and have seen firsthand how USP’s progress and success there has occurred under his expert guidance. Not only has Dr. Giancaspro overseen USP’s engagement in DSHM, but in my view he is directly responsible for the organization having made meaningful strides there due to his command of the subject matter, recognition of organizational requirements, and a calm measured manner in dealing with differing points of view. Dr. Giancaspro understands the science and technical aspects of complex DSHMs as well as organizational structure. He consistently advances original ideas, clarifies complex situations, and effectively leads volunteer efforts. The identical 501(c)(3) categorizations of AOAC and USP, including a reliance on volunteers, provide additional assurance of Dr. Giancaspro’s promise as an effective OMB member. He has also been engaged with the Stakeholder Panel on Dietary Supplements (SPDS) and the Editorial Board that I chaired at AOAC, consistently showing up and participating. I have also witnessed his active work with other DSHM stakeholder organizations, such as the NSF-ANSI Joint Committee and the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA). This relevant experience should be well received by the OMB. You have my strongest recommendation for Dr. Giancaspro for membership to the AOAC OMB. I am confident that he will prove to be an extremely valuable asset to the OMB both professionally and personally. Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss.

Dear Dr. Roman,

I am writing to support the application of Dr. Gabriel Giancaspro to the Official Methods Board of AOAC.   I have known Gabriel for more than 10 years through my interactions with USP.  I have found him to be  extremely knowledgeable in the general field of analytical chemistry and specifically for foods and  botanicals.  His position at USP has given him an excellent overview of methods and the need for  validation.  He is thoughtful, well spoken, and willing to consider other opinions.  I think he would be an  excellent addition to the OMB.  Sincerely,

Letter of recommendation to AOAC Official Methods Board for Dr Brendon D Gill

It is my absolute pleasure to recommend Brendon Gill to Official Methods Board (OMB) with AOAC International.

Brendon and I work together at various AOAC International activities like SPIFAN and we are members of New Zealand International Review Group (IRG) for ISO / IDF Technical Committee 34, Working Group 14 (TC 34 / WG 14) for vitamins and other nutrients. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Brendon, and came to know him as a truly valuable asset to absolutely any team. He is honest, dependable and incredibly hard- working. Brendon’s knowledge of analytical chemistry and expertise in method development is a huge advantage to the entire industry. Along with his undeniable talent, Brendon has always been an absolute joy to work with. He is a true team player, and always manages to foster positive discussions and bring the best out of technical forums. Without a doubt, I confidently recommend Brendon to join OMB team at AOAC International. As a dedicated and knowledgeable person, I know that he will be a beneficial addition to the activity.

Please feel free to contact me should you like to discuss it further. I would be happy to expand on my recommendation.

Letter of recommendation for Dr Brendon Gill to AOAC Official Methods Board

I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Dr Brendon Gill for his consideration as a member of the AOAC Official Methods Board.

I have worked closely with Brendon for the past 8 years, since taking up the role of Regional Laboratory Manager – Nutritional Laboratories. During the time I have worked with Brendon he has been in the role of Senior Research Scientist based at Fonterra Waitoa. He has reported directly to myself as well as being a technical expert who supports both myself and the Fonterra Waitoa Laboratory. Working with Brendon I have had the opportunity to observe or participate in a wide range of activities that he has been part of. During this time my admiration for both his technical and business skills has grown, as he has developed within his role and also grown his reputation, within Fonterra and the wider scientific community.

Brendon has a strong scientific knowledge that he is able to articulate clearly, both verbally and written, to a wide audience.

While his main focus is research and the development of the testing capability of our Laboratory, he also has a strong ability to consider and understand our business needs. This makes him a valued member of our decision making team within the laboratory. He has proven himself capable of maintaining a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of his role. Brendon has shown himself to be a strong team member, he always participates positively, shares his knowledge, meets his commitments to the team, but is also not afraid to challenge effectively to ensure that the team is completing due diligence to an issue or improvement. As part of the Laboratory Research & Development team, Brendon has continued to build his reputation across Fonterra and in the many international forums he belongs to. He has been able to do this due to his focus on people, his good business sense, a strong passion for science and his willingness to put his hand up to complete tasks/actions.

Brendon is a highly professional individual and I am able to recommend him to you without reservation. If you have any further questions then please contact me.

Yours sincerely
