FY 2018-19 and 2019-20 Activity Goals Improving access to telecommunications is a 2018 City Council strategic goal. (Economic Development & Telecommunications): • Develop a two part listening series (Community meetings) on telecommunications  Public Private Partnerships models- lessons learned  Dig Once Policies and their success • Inventory and create a Conduit Map of all available city conduit • Issue an RFP for Fiber Network Infrastructure for City of Morgan Hill Other economic development goals for 2018 are: • Advance Council’s goals regarding High Speed Rail (Regional Initiative) • Help complete the Monterey Corridor Flex-Use Zoning to optimize development opportunities in the corridor • Deploy a new economic development website • Implement a marketing campaign to promote the Economic Blueprint’s vision and opportunities within the four key industries (Community Engagement and Messaging) • Support the Amgen Tour of California Time Trial race • Establish a TBID and/or TOT Ballot Measure (Financial Stewardship) • Develop an Employment Land Preservation Policy (Financial Stewardship) • Develop a Retail Concentration Policy (Financial Stewardship) • Developing a Freeway Signage Program to enhance development opportunity for freeway sites, and support commercial, hotel, and auto dealer development opportunities • Create Zoning Overlays for auto dealers and hotels • Implement a Downtown Newsrack Consolidation Program Financial Comments The FY 2018-20 recommended budget includes upgrading the Economic Development Coordinator position to an Economic Development Manager position, a position that previously existed within the organization. The budget also proposes to elevate the current Economic Development internship to an Economic Development Fellowship for FY 2018-19 and FY 2019- 20.
