Bilingual December E-News
We extend our congratulations to Abbvie, selected as pharma of the year, and to Ken- neth Frazier as CEO of Merck & Co. as Executive of the year by BioPharma Dive.
We also congratulate Dr. Alli Murugesan who has been awarded the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Program New PI award supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research-Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR), the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), and Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) in November 2017. Dr. Murugesan is a senior scientist working in the field of hematological malignancy and lung cancer with Dr. Tony Reiman at the Dept. of Biology, UNB, Saint John. The ECR award has given her an opportunity to strengthen her professional development as a cancer researcher, as well as to connect with fellow researchers, mentors, and patient groups. The ECR meeting was held in conjunction with the Canadian Cancer Research Conference (CCRC) held in Vancouver, BC. At the CCRC, she presented her novel research findings through the poster abstract entitled “Anti-myeloma potential of caffeic acid phenethyl ester and its closely related analogues”. Dr. Murugesan has been conducting this research at the Reiman cancer research laboratory, Saint John and in collaboration with Dr. Mohamed Touaibia at the Université de Moncton. Congratulations to all the winners at the joint IMC-Health Foundation and Prix Galien Canada, namely Merck for the Prix Galien Canada 2017 - Innovative Product and Dr. Ernesto Schiffrin for the Prix Galien Canada 2017 - Research.
