Winter Program Guide 2020

MEET CHARLENE "I have been involved in PRC Youth since 2010. I started my career as a Youth Worker with the School District and realized that the breakswere often difficult for youth. I pursued a part time job with the city to help bridge the gap. This environment has helped me connect with youth in a different and fun way. I am inspiredby youthandall their talents.Whether it is art, music, athletics, dance, school, volunteerism, I am very moved by what youth are accomplishing. One of my passions is cooking and I started a culinary night with the youth. We cook a meal together and enjoy eating together once a week. I love how a meal brings people together. Maple Ridge youth have taught me about resiliency and their willingness to persevere through the tough times. One piece of advice that I would give to emerging adults and youth is it is okay to ask for help. We are a village." MEET JHONNY " Three words I’d use to describe myself would be: selfless, achiever, and thoughtful. My favourite thing to do at the Greg Moore Youth Centre is to play soccer with friends and youth staff. Summer 2018 was a very fun time because about every Saturday there was a soccer game at the GYMC. If I could bring something new to theGMYC it would be colour. I love how the staff welcomes every youth into the centre and from my perspective, I think it would be even more welcoming if the walls were painted a different colour. I look forward to returning the lost rollerblading culture."
