OXFORD LIFE

Oxford Open Doors 2025 Various venues around Oxford 13th and 14th September

Christmas in Oxford: Christmas Market on Broad Street

Once a year, doors are opened across the city to celebrate Oxford’s heritage and culture by giving everyone the chance to explore the colleges, university buildings, heritage sites and green spaces across the city – many of which are not usually open to the public. Take to the city to explore the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, the Examination Schools and much more for this chance to see Oxford as you may not have before.

As we head towards Christmas, the historic Broad Street in Oxford City Centre will be transformed into a festive market. Open daily from late November, this market will give you the ideal opportunity to do a touch of gift shopping, enjoy some hot chocolate and listen to live music with your friends before you head off for the Christmas break. Opening times for the Christmas market vary depending on the day of the week, so we advise to check these online before you travel.

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET Radiohead Exhibition Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont Street

Head to the Ashmolean to learn more about the visual culture behind the iconic English rock band, formed in Oxford during the late 80s, including original paintings for album covers, digital compositions, etchings, unpublished drawings, and lyrics in their sketchbooks. Half price tickets are available for under 25s and booking ahead is advised. Please note some artworks and labels in the exhibition include strong language.

With 180 objects on display from the artists’ 30-year collaboration, this major exhibition will explore the visual art of Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke and the iconic images of Radiohead.
