The Brown Betty teapot was created in Stoke-on-Trent; the heart of British potteries in the 1800’s. Locally quarried red clay was used due to its affordability and durable qualities. The clay was also well known for retaining heat, which was perfect for teapots.

Price & Kensington teapots have continued to evolve since the Brown Betty days by developing a range of fashion led colour palettes for modern day living. Ranging from soft neutral hues to vivid, bright tones whilst maintaining the historical shape and functionality of the ‘Betty’ teapot with a non-drip spout. The 2 cup and 6 cup sizes can now be used with and without a fine mesh stainless steel filter which allows even the finest loose leaf tea to infuse perfectly.

The round shape, referred to as ‘Betty’, infuses the perfect brew by allowing tea leaves to swirl freely around the pot, releasing the flavours. The glaze is “Manganese Brown” which was developed by the Marquis of Rockingham. The shape and the name were eventually shortened to the affectionate term ‘Brown Betty’. This teapot has become an English classic and is very much used as an everyday item in modern day living.
