Tøjhusmuseet, (Historical museum), Tøjhusgade, Slotsholmen (F 2). The building was constructed by King Christian IV in 1598. The Danish army and navy have used this building as a depot. The 163 meter long hall shelters a valuable collcction of historie guns, arms, flags, harnesscs and uniforms, etc. Admittance, see page 37. Zoologisk Museum, (Zoological Museum), 27, Krystalgade (E 3), built in romanesque style 1863-69, with important collections of prehistoric animals, whales, Scandinavian birds, tropical insects and deep sea animals, etc. Admittance, see page 37. Parks Bibliotekshaven, (garden of the Royal Library), Behind parliament, a quiet and beautiful place o f refuge, with many rare plants. Christianshavns Vold, (The moats of Christianshavn), near Amager­ brogade, a favourite promenade. Frederiksberg Have, (The park o f the former royal residence, Frede­ riksberg Castle), with many old avenues and canals, boating in the summer. Fællcdparken, (A former common), with band-pavillions and popular concerts, restaurant, popular sports. Haveselskabets Have, Frederiksberg, (The park' o f the horticultural society). Kongens Have, (The king’s garden), Gothersgade, Øster Voldgade (E, F 3), The oldest park of the town, with a statue o f H. C. Ander­ sen, a beautiful rose garden, a cavaliers’ row with trimmed lime- trees. In the north western corner of the park the beautiful Rosen­ borg Slot, (castle o f the roses), see page 43. Landbohøjskolens Have, (garden of the agricultural college). A beautiful park with rare trees, rockcries and greenhouses. Langelinjeanlæggct, (The harbour promenade Langelinje) (G 4, 5), famous for its splendid view over the harbour, the statue of the little mermaid and the Gefion fountain. Yachting harbour. Strandpromenaden, Harbour promenade along the Svanemøllebugt (Svanemølle bay) at the new yachting harbour. Søndermarken, (extension o f Frederiksberg Have), with beautiful avenues, the memorial mound, and the monument “Mother and child” . Universitetets Botaniske Have, (botanical garden), Gothersgade, Øster Voldgade, with many rare trees and plants from all contincnts, famous greenhouses.
