Frederiksberg Slot, Frederiksberg. The Construction of the main bud­ ding was begun by King Frederik IV in 1699, extended in 1708-10. In the rcign of King Christian VI the low side wings werc added with the colonnade surrounding the court yard. The castle is now used as training establishment for army officers. No adnrittance. Frederiksborg Slot, Hillerød. Begun by King Frederik II, completed by King Christian IV in 1602-08, after a fire reeonstructed at the end of the last century in the original shape. The beautiful chapel unscathed by the fire. The castle is now used as museum o f Danish history. The castle is built in Dutch renaissance style o f red bricks in a lake. The main budding has four storics and cncloses, with three wings and a low gallcry, the inner courtyard. The characteristic bell bcll tower is 92 metres high. Admittance, page 50. Kronborg Slot, (Elsinorc Castle), Helsingør, (Elsinore), budt by King Frederik II in 1574-85, in Dutch renaissance, with four wings, walls covcred with sand stone, the roofs with copper. It is situated on a penninsula at the narrowest point of the Øresund (the Sound), formerly a very important fortress. With beautifully decorated ceilings, doors and fire placcs from the period o f King Christian IV. The main entrance o f the castle ornated with Corinthian columns and statuary. “ Hamlet” by Shakespearc is performed each summer in the courtyard by troups from different countries. Sorgenfri Slot, (Lyngby), budt 1705 by the French architect Dieus- sart, cnlargcd in 1743. Summer residence of the late King Christian X, now the residence o f the heir apparent, HRH prince Knud. Statsradiofonibygningen, (Danish State Radio), Rosenørnsalle (C 3), built 1938-45 on the site o f a former workhouse. The large and very beautiful budding is built in modernistic style.
