O f the two palais interconnected by thc colonnade, the palais o f Christian IX, (nearest to the harbour) is at the disposal o f the king, and the palais opposite (palais o f Christian VII) is used for official receptions. In the center o f the octogonal square the famous equestrian statue o f King Frederik V by Saly. To the west the Frederikskirken, (Marmorkirken - marble church), completed in 1894 in Roman baroque style after having been in ruins since 1770. The cupola is 30 metres in diameter. Around the church 16 statues o f famous religious persons, f.i. Grundtvig, Kingo and King Canute the Holy (Knud den Hellige). Vesterbro - Frederiksberg - Valby From the Rådhuspladsen passing by Tivoli and the main station Vesterbrogade leads to Roskilde road. Between Tivoli, the most important summer amusement park o f the town with restaurants, inusic halls, playing grounds for childrcn, etc. (description page 00) and the main station Bernstorffsgade leads by the central post office to Otto Mønstcds Plads with the Politigården, (Police Headquarters, built 1924, description page 34). In front o f the main station the Frihedsstøtten, (monument o f liberty) in memory o f the liberation o f peasants in 1788, an obelisk flanked by four symbolic figures. From the central post office through Tietgensgade and Halmtorvet to the imposing “ Kødbyen” , (municipal slaughter houses). Vesterbrogade leads further to Vesterbrotorv, from where an alley leads to Det ny Teater, (the new thpatre), and further on to Skt. Jørgcnssø, (lake o f St. George), wliich, continuing into the Peblingesø and Sortedamssø, constitutes a chain o f lakes, with promenades, as far as Østerbrogade. On the other side o f Skt. Jørgenssø Rosenørnsalle, a broad avenue leading to the Danish State Radio, (Statsradiofonien) and the exhibition hall “ Forum”*. Continuing along Vesterbrogade we fmd a pleasing budding on the left, the “ Kgl. Skydebane” , (royal shooting range), now a restaurant, built in 1828 by G. F. Hetsch. Frederiksberg Alle leads from here across Set. Thomas Plads to Frederiksberg Runddel with the main entrance of Frederiksberg Have. To the left Frederiksberg Kirke, built in 1734, and a churchyard with the grave of the poet Oehlenschlager. The main entrance to the park is flanked by two long low buddings, the former side wings o f the “ Prinsessegård” (house o f the princesscs) budt by King Frederik III
