Rungsted. From Rungsted a road leads westwards to Hørsholm (3 km). At the corner a mound lias been erccted in memory o f the poet Johannes Ewald. (“ Ewaldshøjen” ). From liere a splendid view of the Sound. In Hørsholm therc arc still the ruins o f the former royal castle Hirschholm, from 1739, pulled down 1810/12; Hørsholm Museum, open daily May to Octobcr, 11 a. 111.-4 p.m., admission fee kr. 0,50. Along the coast the Strandvej continucs, passing by “ Sophienborg” , a former royal castle, built 1744, on the Nivågård-cstate. In a separate budding an interesting collection of paintings, (free admission on sun- days from May to Octobcr ijth), containing works by Rubens, Rem- brandt, Italian, Flemian, German and French painters from the I5th and i6th centuries. I11 the Danish section paintings by Eckersberg, Mar- strand, P. C. Skovgaard, Zahrtmann and others. The old Strandvej leads through the fishing village Sletten to Humle­ bæk, (Hotel “ Gylfe” , tcl. Humlebæk 7), and the new Strandvej straight to Espergærde. (Hotel “ Gcfion” , tcl. Espergærde 70). Humlebæk is partly a modern villa town, partly a fishing village. Restaurant “ Kølles Gård” , 21, N y Strandvej, tcl. Humlebæk 265, and the inn Humlebæk Kro. The Strandvej continues through Espergærde to Snekkersten, inn and seaside hotel, tcl. Snekkersten 160. COPENHAGEN -H ILLERØD -FREDEN SBORG -H ELSINGØR (47 km). Main roads nos. 3 - 5 - 6 - 3. Kongevejen (Road Royal), a continuation o f Lyngbyvejen, leads through Kongens Lyngby with the royal summer rcsidence “ Sorgen­ fri” in the northern part o f the town. (Sce page 35). The castle built in 1705. The park partly open to the public. Continuing by the “ Frilands­ museum” (description page 31), restaurant Hammers Kro. Open the whole ycar, and “ Landbrugsmuseet” , (description page 31). During the summer boating on Lyngby Sø, (Lyngby lake) through the beautiful canal to Fredcriksdal, Jægerhuset and Fiskebæk. Also motorboats on the three inter-connccted lakes Lyngby So, Bagsværd Sø and Furesø. Now through Gecls Skov (Gccl forest) to Holte.
