Holte is surrounded by the lake Furesø and the Rude forest, whicli is one o f the most picturesquc forests in North Zealand. From Rude Skov (Rude forest) the Kongevej (main road 110. 3) leads through Hørsholm to Helsingør. Main road no. 5 continues northwest through Birkerød and Blovstrød, a typical Danish village, (Blovstrød Kro, (Blovstrød inn)), through the forests Tokkerup Hegn and Store Dyrehave to Hillerød. From Hillerød main road no. 6 leads through the forest Grib Skov to Fredensborg. The forest stretches northwards the whole length of the Esrum lake. From Fredensborg the road continues along the groves Danstrup Hegn, Krogcnberg Hegn and Nyrup Hegn to Helsingør.
