MARANA OUTSOLE As the new manufacturer of the Marana outsole, Michelin’s challenge was to extend the longevity of the outsole by using the rubber and tread from a tire. The aim was to increase the durability of the outsole, while still retaining the same basic aesthetics that skaters love in the Marana. The criteria for the new rubber compound had to be lightweight, flexible, grippy and most importantly, more durable than ever. Michelin completely reinvented the Marana outsole. Better than ever, the new rubber is developed from a specialized outdoor tire compound while the tread pattern is taken from an all-terrain automotive tire.
