LENGTH OF SERVICE: a. Quick: Mexico Adventures – One Week. b. Mission Builders: One week to a few months. c. Long-term: Two-year minimum REQUIREMENTS: a. Mexico Adventures: Open to Middle School and High School teams with leaders. College, parish, business, service club and senior citizen groups in good health or individuals 18+. A passion for the poor and needy. An openness to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ and to work with all Christian believers. b. Mission Builders: This program is for those who have not completed a YWAM DTS. c. Long-termmissionaries: 1. Meet the financial requirements. 2. A YWAM 5-8 month Discipleship Training School DTS (Formation Program) will be required. 3. A minimum two-year commitment after your DTS to apply as staff. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: a. Mexico Adventures- Airfare to San Diego, CA or drive your church van to Baja. $800 per person for room & board per week. Houses cost $4000 for materials and your teammust provide that amount. b. Mission Builders work for room and board but bringing your own RV is recommended. c. Students in the required Discipleship Training schools must pay tuition and travel expenses overseas. $4,000-$8,000 U.S. d. Full-time staff are required to raise tax-deductible support for the ministry, pay staff fees and perform kitchen duties. Kerygma Texas is our non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. All Kerygma workers, including the Directors, are volunteers of this ministry and of Youth With a Mission and receive no salary. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: a. Long-term: Adult single staff live in dorms or multiple person houses in community. Married are assigned their own small home. There is a K-12 day school on campus for staff children as well as public and private schools nearby in town. Short- term: Training and mission participants are housed at our campus or equally suitable facilities when we travel. Gender separate rooms are standard procedure. Mission Builder housing is limited and RV’s are recommended. Sacraments: The Sacraments are readily available in nearby Chico. The two parishes are within a 20-30 minute drive. Rides to mass are available weekends, days of obligation and some weekdays. On mission trips, we do our best to connect with the local parishes. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Long-term: Our campus averages 80 full-time adult staff plus their 60 children. Mission Adventures size vary by church group from 8-10 and up. The Mission builder dept has 2-10 on campus at a given time. TRAINING: Intentional Discipleship is the foundation of what we are about. Our half year Discipleship Training School consists of the first half training and then outreach to a third world country (like Africa). All long term staff must have completed a YWAM approved DTS, here or in another global location. After DTS, other secondary schools are available at the Chico base or YWAM locations around the world. We are a Catholic subsidiary of the interdenominational mission organization, Youth With A Mission, YWAM. GOAL OF PROGRAM: Our goal is for all "To Know God and Make Him Known," through discipleship training, evangelization and mercy ministries. Our emphasis is on a foundation of strong personal relationships with Jesus Christ. We invite young adults to grow in their faith while experiencing how they can "proclaim the Gospel," to their own peers at home and then to the unreached of the nations. Our name, "Kerygma" is Greek for "Proclamation of the Gospel." We provide a way for you to test a vocation to serve God as a lay missionary. Join us in reaching the cultures of the world for Jesus right in our own backyard! Come as you are and be a part of the evangelization of the cities of America for the sake of the gospel. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: 1. Quick Trips: Mexico Adventures. A week in Baja Mexico. a. Go serve at an orphanage through physical labor to ease the other staff. b. Bring a team to build a small house for a poor family. We teach you c. Other service projects available per your vision. 2. Longer termministry based in Chico, California as Mission Builders or Long Term staff. Types of service: Mission trip staff, administrative, computer & internet, young adult, youth and children’s ministry, musician, bilingual translator (Spanish), Drivers, city ministry (to homeless, seniors and college students), cooks, maintenance, housekeeping, construction trades, landscaping, mechanics, communications & marketing, fundraising. a. Mission Builders. Great for retired couples or singles who want to serve a few weeks to a few months on our international ministry campus in Chico, CA. They may lend a hand in any of the above service areas. Many of these wonderful volunteers come year after year because they’ve found it’s a challenging and spiritually refreshing experience — and a great way to make new friends from around the world. b. Long Term Placement: Living and working on our 500-acre training base in an ecumenical community. Doing any of the above short term projects on a regular basis. Seasonal mission trips overseas and refugee outreaches. AREA OF SERVICE: Our home location is the U.S., where the nationalities of the world have come. Youth With a Mission, our parent organization, has workers in 180 countries. Kerygma’s training base is in Chico California, north of Sacramento. We have served in the San Francisco Bay Area, with strong connections in the Tenderloin and Fremont, developing volunteer opportunities in each. We have
