The ultimate goal of CMMB's Volunteer Program is to support our New York departments, country teams and local partners by finding meaningful placements for interns and volunteers who are committed to supporting a pattern of sustainable development. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Variety of International Opportunities for: Physicians (OB/GYN, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics); Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants; Midwives; Allied health professionals (Lab, X-ray, Ultrasound); Therapists (Physical, Occupational, Speech, Mental Health); Nutritionists; Public Health Generalists and Specialists (M&E, MCNH, HIV, WASH, e-Health, Malaria, Grant Specialist); Pharmacists and Supply Chain Managers; Health Administrators; Hospitality Professionals; Operations, Finance/Business, ProgramManagers, Communications and Marketing, Photographers, Videographers; Human Resources, General Administration, Volunteer Managers. AREA OF SERVICE: Haiti, Peru, Kenya, USA (NYC) South Sudan, Zambia. Multiple sites in each country, rural, peri-urban and urban areas. LENGTH OF SERVICE: International: 6-12 months; 1 week - 3 months for short-term placements. Domestic (NYC): 3-12 months REQUIREMENTS: Specific requirements vary by location and position. All international volunteers must be at least 21 years old. Medical professionals must have licensures in good standing. Min. Bachelor's degree (except for some US based internships). Familiarity and interest in global health issues, especially maternal and child health. Ability to perform in resource-limited working conditions. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally while navigating cultural and language barriers. Ability to be flexible and prioritize projects and tasks effectively; self-starter; takes initiative. Problem solver, able to identify needs, and develop solutions. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Adaptable and flexible. Proficiency in English; strong communication skills. Spanish Fluency required for Peru. French or Creole required for Haiti. Domestic: Specific requirements vary based on position. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: International: Volunteers who serve for 6 months or longer receive housing, monthly stipend, round-trip travel to placement site and insurance coverage. All volunteers are required to fundraise to help offset the cost of their trip. The fundraising target is $5000.00 and volunteers are required to raise a minimum of $3500.00 prior to their departure to their volunteer placement site. Fundraising tools and training provided. Domestic: Unpaid; College/ university credit available; Part-time, Flexible schedules; Office hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm EST LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: International: Varies per site. May be dormitory, on site at hospital/clinic, separate apartment. Domestic: no living arrangements provided. Group opportunities available March-November, serving one week repairing or building homes. AREA OF SERVICE: Appalachian region of Eastern Kentucky. LENGTH OF SERVICE: AmeriCorps Members: One-year placements beginning in June, August (preferred), October and January, with the option of applying for a second term. Short-term: Volunteers needed for summer camps and throughout the year - minimum commitment of three weeks. Groups serve for one week. REQUIREMENTS: Application process required for all volunteers. Men and women, single or married, without dependent children accepted. High school diploma; college degree for some positions. Individual volunteers must be 18 years old or older; 21 or older for some positions. Groups and families: 14 years and older. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Room and board provided for all volunteers who choose to live in community. AmeriCorps members also receive a modest stipend, health insurance, potential loan deferment and AmeriCorps Education Award. Support provided by volunteer community and permanent staff. Retreats offered twice a year. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Most CAP Volunteers live in community with other volunteers, supporting one another, sharing chores, and taking turns preparing the evening meal and sharing reflection time. Faith sharing and spiritual growth is also cultivated in community. Our volunteer houses are located throughout Eastern Kentucky, so there is ample opportunity to interact regularly with all CAP Volunteers and the community. Some volunteers may be able to live independently of a volunteer house; contact the Volunteer Program for details. Summer Camp volunteers live at the camp. Group volunteers stay in one of several group facilities. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Approximately 50 long-term volunteers, more than 1,000 short-term volunteers a year (including groups). TRAINING: Week-long orientation for AmeriCorps members. Each service site has training as well. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications accepted throughout the year. AmeriCorps members may begin their service commitment in January, June, August (preferred), or October.

GOAL OF PROGRAM: CMMB is an international NGO providing long- term, co-operative medical and development aid to communities affected by poverty and unequal access to healthcare. For over a century, CMMB has worked to strengthen and support communities through healthcare programs and initiatives, the distribution of medicines and medical supplies, and the placement of volunteers. CMMB's Volunteer Program facilitates year-round opportunities for students and professionals from a variety of fields. Our International Volunteer Program addresses the critical need for professionals in South Sudan, Zambia, Kenya, Peru, and Haiti in areas that lack sufficient resources for quality preventive and curative health services, especially for women and children. We have worked with thousands of interns and volunteers who help to develop and implement community health interventions, provide needed clinical health services, conduct research, develop communications content, build our donor base, and provide critical administrative support to
