Encounter Coordinator works with contacts for high schools & universities on logistics to facilitate hands-on learning experiences that build a culture of encounter & further the mission. He/She practices radical hospitality & has a strong attention to detail. Anna's Place. Franciscan Hospitality Center offers welcoming atmosphere for activities that promote growth in mind, body, heart & spirit. Staff works together on aspects of programming; computer class, bingo, soup & sandwich lunch, health screenings, social events, & community garden. Red Hill Farm. A 6 acre Community Supported Agriculture farm. Provides produce for members & the Sisters. The farm utilizes organic practices. Staff, seasonal farmers, volunteers, & work shares collaborate on all aspects of the Farm under the leadership of the Manager. Family Counseling Center. Community Outreach Coordinator works with the staff to further the mission. He/She works with partner agencies to improve access to behavioral health care services for individuals and families chronically under served in traditional systems due to barriers related to language, immigration, health insurance, stigma, & poverty. Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR monitors the sisters' investment portfolio from a moral & ethical perspective & exercises rights as shareholders to hold corporations accountable for social & environmental policies to promote justice, peace, & reconciliation. Volunteers assist in this work. AREA OF SERVICE: Greater Philadelphia Area including South Philadelphia, Chester, PA, Aston, PA, and Wilmington, DE LENGTH OF SERVICE: Mid-August through June. REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers are typically between the ages of 21 and 35 with no impediments to committing to a simple lifestyle in community for a service term of ten months. Applicants outside of that age range will be considered on a case by case basis. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Volunteers receive a simple personal stipend of $125 a month as well as a communal house budget that covers all necessities including groceries, household needs, transportation, and health insurance as is needed. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Volunteers live together in a house with individual bedrooms and shared bathroom. Volunteers share in at least three meals a week together, weekly community and spirituality nights, and create intentional community. Volunteers are asked to live simply and sustainably being aware of waste, engage in recycling, and to compost when possible. SIZE OF PROGRAM: 3-5 volunteers TRAINING: Volunteers will engage in an orientation retreat at the start of their service term and will participate in workshops and retreats throughout the year. Four main retreats are held, Orientation Retreat, St. Francis Retreat, Winter Retreat, and the End of the Year Retreat. Throughout a volunteer's experience they will engage in conversation with a spiritual director to engage in conversation of spiritual growth. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Priority Submission January 15th.
