HM Volunteers values simple living, opportunities for spiritual and personal growth, and desire to serve with and in the tradition of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. The program includes community living and shared reflection on the experience of service, and strives to foster a lifelong commitment to Gospel values and to bringing more abundant life to God's people, especially the poor. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Long-term: working with immigrants and underserved populations in social work, community outreach, women's issues, farming, legal aide, literacy projects, education, inner city neighborhood ministry, parish ministry/outreach, health care, refugee ministry, immigrant border ministry, health care. Short term opportunities varies depending on availability. AREA OF SERVICE: Cleveland, OH LENGTH OF SERVICE: One year for long term. Three to six month summer volunteer. REQUIREMENTS: Long-term: College graduates (or 21 years old) and older. Short-term: College students (or 18 years old) and older. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Long-term: Room and board, transportation, medical insurance if needed, small stipend. Short- term: Varies by site. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Long-term: Housing provided for community living with other volunteers. Number of volunteers living together varies each year depending on site placement and availability. Short term: housing availability varies. SIZE OF PROGRAM: 11-12 month long-term volunteers; short-term volunteers vary. TRAINING: Long-term: Orientation, introduction to Humility of Mary Community and training usually at designated site. Mid-year retreat. Regional retreats. Short-term: Training provided at site. APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1st for priority applications; Applications will be accepted after April 1st to fill remaining positions through June. Orientation in August and service begins August or September at discretion of site. Volunteers

respond to the call of social justice and partner with various agencies to work in marginalized communities. We seek to live out the Ignatian principles and work to create a more just society. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Education, health care, behavioral health, homelessness, social services, support services for formerly incarcerated persons, administrative assistant for corporate work- study program at a high school, school counseling, campus ministry. AREA OF SERVICE: Los Angeles, CA LENGTH OF SERVICE: 11 Months (July 29, 2019 - June 30, 2020) REQUIREMENTS: College degree, able to dedicate 11 months to full-time service, be between the ages of 21 and 35, commitment to social justice, flexible, willingness to live simply and participate in community living. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Monthly stipend, room & board, health insurance option, assistance with transportation to and from work, mentoring and development of professional skills. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Volunteers live in community, share meals, and participate in communal and spiritual nights. All volunteers will have their own room and most have their own bathroom. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Eight volunteers, one per placement site. TRAINING: Five-day program orientation, placement site orientation, career/professional development with LMU's Office of Career and Professional Development, site supervisor weekly meetings, ongoing training and development throughout the year. We strive to transform our lives and those around us through service retreat experiences, sustainable living and home repair. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Long-term volunteers, known as Community Members, commit one year (hopefully coming to discern community as a long-term lifestyle) to Prayer, Community, Service and Simplicity. Community members practice living in an intentional Christian community while operating an urban farm. Work also consists of repairing homes for low-income families and individuals in the community. About 16 weeks in the year, we host High School and College volunteers for week long service immersion trips. Community members lead the retreats and guide the volunteers at the work- sites. Short term volunteers, known as Sojourners, spend time living in community with the Jerusalem Farm Community. Tasks may be working in the gardens, helping out with chickens, cleaning dishes, cooking meals, leading retreat experiences for volunteers and helping with home repair projects. AREA OF SERVICE: Kansas City, MO (focus on the Historic Northeast Neighborhoods) LENGTH OF SERVICE: Community Members: one year with an option to renew; Sojourners: one - six months REQUIREMENTS: Community Members: Openness to the Catholic tradition and Catholic social teaching, willingness to learn home-repair, farming, cooking and hosting retreats.
