AREA OF SERVICE: Trenton, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; and the Appalachian region of West Virginia. LENGTH OF SERVICE: Summer program. Participants can commit to one of the following options. Whole summer: June through mid- August. First 2/3: June through July. Second 2/3: July through mid- August. REQUIREMENTS: We prefer LeaderworX applicants to be young adults engaged in their faith, college educated or with applicable work experience (high school graduate required), and to possess a valid US driver's license. We are open to people of various faith traditions and only ask that you be comfortable working with programming rooted in Catholic Social Teaching. Please know that those who may not be college educated or do not meet driving requirements have a place on our team as well. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: All LeaderworX will be provided with room and board. Those committed to volunteering for the whole summer are eligible to be reimbursed for travel expenses up to $500. Those who are +21 and meet our driving requirements are eligible to receive an additional stipend. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: LeaderworX will live in community at the CASA (Convent at St. Ann's) in Lawrenceville, NJ. The CASA is a suburban facility with semi-private rooms, communal/semi-private bathrooms, multiple shared common areas, and a chapel. We are conveniently located only one hour away from Philadelphia and New York City. SIZE OF PROGRAM: 18 LeaderworX teammembers TRAINING: In addition to opening and closing formation weeks, LeaderworX will receive ongoing training throughout the summer in social justice education, faith formation, ministry, and leadership development. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the program is filled. Fall deadline: November 30th. Winter deadline: January 31st. Spring deadline: March 31st. CONTACT: Kelsey Rice Bogdan, Director of Operations & External Partnerships AFFILIATIONS: Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts GOAL OF PROGRAM: The goal of Life Together is to grow communities that raise up a new generation of prayerful and prophetic leaders for the church and the world. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Life Together is a ten month fellowship and leadership development project, sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, that matches emerging young leaders (21-32 years of age) with mission-based non-profit organizations and churches throughout the greater Boston area. Fellows participate in a rigorous leadership training program during their service year that is built on community organizing principles, team-building, and spiritual practice. Our curriculum is focused on both the interior and exterior dimensions of leadership. Life Together is proud to host 27 fellows in the 2016-17 program year. AREA OF SERVICE: Boston, MA- 19 fellows. Fall River, MA- 4 fellows. Lawrence, MA- 4 fellows. LENGTH OF SERVICE: The program term is ten and half months. The year begins mid-August and ends mid-June. REQUIREMENTS: Life Together will select 27 fellows from a pool of over 200 applicants. They range in age from 21 to 30, and are willing to work in challenging settings, committed to positive community change, and emotionally mature. Each fellow has demonstrated prior leadership experience, as well as a deep commitment to spiritual growth and working for social justice. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Fellows receive housing (with rent and all utilities paid), healthcare, a transportation pass, and a modest living stipend of $450 each month. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Housing is provided with all utilities paid and basic furniture provided. Each community house hosts between four and eight fellows. Fellows share kitchens and common areas. The bedrooms are a mix of singles and doubles. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Life Together hosts 27 fellows who serve throughout Eastern Massachusetts. In Boston, there will be 14 first year fellows and five second year fellows. Four additional fellows will live in Fall River, MA and four fellows will live in Lawrence, MA. TRAINING: Fellows begin their program year with a two-week Orientation and Leadership Training in late August, followed by weekly spiritual formation and leadership training (8 hours/week) and monthly spiritual mentorship/spiritual direction. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open until filled. Priority will be given to applications received by April 15.
