Our program holistically aims to strengthen the community through their families; every person has an important role to play. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Service opportunities include tutoring (K-12, GED, ESL); after school programs; conflict resolution; parent effectiveness; adult literacy. Educational service may be in conjunction with social services, volunteer coordination, migrant workers, counseling, and environmental agencies. International placements may also include agricultural or pastoral work. AREA OF SERVICE: Domestic placements are available in Apopka, FL; Atlanta, GA; Baltimore, MD; Bend, OR; Boston, MA; Boulder, CO; Chicago, IL; Cincinnati, OH; Dayton, OH; Hartford, CT; Los Angeles, CA; New Orleans, LA; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Phoenix, AZ; Rochester LENGTH OF SERVICE: Members commit to serve full-time for 11 months to one year. REQUIREMENTS: Individuals ages 21 and older, college degree and/or work experience. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Domestic: $12,530 living allowance, health insurance, $5,775 AmeriCorps education award upon completion of 1,700 hours and full term of service (2016-2017 figures). Child care benefits and forbearance of eligible student loans, if applicable. International: Housing, health insurance, personal stipend, travel costs. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Community living is available in select domestic cities. Housing is provided for international members. SIZE OF PROGRAM: 495 domestic AmeriCorps members in over 20 cities nationwide, and 2-4 international volunteers (2015-2016 program year).

Xanten. Norbertines have served those most in need in the Green Bay area since 1893. GOAL OF PROGRAM: Our goal is to serve alongside and on behalf of those who are most vulnerable in our local community. As Norbertine Volunteer Community members our Christian service and life is focused by the core values of Community (Communio), Action (Actio), Contemplation (Contemplatio), and Stability of Place (Stabilitas Loci). Taken from the life witness of our sponsors, the Order of Canons Regular of Premontre (Norbertines), these core values shape our volunteer community members for life in an intentional community that embodies simplicity of life, environmentally sustainable living practices, and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Volunteers serve in a variety of non-profit agencies and educational programs within the economically challenged and ethnically diverse Three Corners Neighborhood where they live. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Education, ESL programs, domestic violence prevention and education, Bellin Health BEAM (Bellin Expressive Arts in Medicine) Program coordinator, youth ministry, pastoral care, community gardening and nutrition education, jail and juvenile detention center ministry, food pantry and homeless shelter work, literacy and tutoring programs, Syble Hopp School, outreach to the hearing impaired and deaf community, Latino(a) outreach. Volunteers will have opportunities to interact with our sponsors, the Norbertine priests and brothers, through shared meals, prayer and retreats. AREA OF SERVICE: Green Bay, Wisconsin LENGTH OF SERVICE: 11 months (August through June) REQUIREMENTS: Men and women, post-college age (21-29), single, no dependents. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Monthly personal stipend, room and board, health insurance (medical, vision, dental optional), student loan deferment or forbearance assistance, paid monthly spiritual direction, shared use of a community vehicle, paid public transportation, and an educational award upon successful completion of the 11 month term of service. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Group living in an intentional community. Each volunteer will have a private bedroom. The rest of the residence is shared communal space. Volunteers will be communally responsible for meal preparation, simple house and yard maintenance, communal prayer time, house meetings and social activities. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Five volunteers in total. TRAINING: Pre-service orientation, mid-service retreat, end of service retreat, group formation, one silent retreat at the Abbey, on-going training in safe environment practices, non-violent communication, Catholic Social Teaching, and professional training provided by service site leadership (if necessary). APPLICATION DEADLINE: Application deadline is April 15th and continues until all positions are filled.
