FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: SPIRITUS members receive: God’s grace to evangelize His youth; one-on-one mentoring; a community of friends to live and work with; training in evangelization and youth ministry; housing; food; health insurance; $150 monthly allowance; spiritual direction; weekly formation classes; daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and Liturgy of the Hours; time off for holidays; $2,000 stipend upon completion of program; and an awesome year of serving that will change your life forever. This is a full time ministry so we do our best to take care of missionaries' physical and emotional needs. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: SPIRITUS missionaries live in community and have their own bedroom. Men live with a priest while the women live in two other residencies. Missionaries come together for prayer, ministry, meals and fun! SIZE OF PROGRAM: SPIRITUS missionaries live and serve in teams of 6-10 people depending on the need. Missionaries share their gifts in the New Evangelization and contribute to the growth of the SPIRITUS mission. TRAINING: SPIRITUS missionaries begin with a month of intensive training in foundations of faith, retreat ministry, and parish youth ministry skills. Weekly training, one-on-one mentoring, and formation classes continue throughout the year. Our training will help you create witness talks that inspire, engage young Catholics and call them into the mission of Jesus, present spiritual programs and retreats in dynamic ways, lead small groups that impact others, and build confidence in presenting the faith to others. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: SSJE Monastic Internship Program offers two service program sites with multiple placement options. One site, the Monastery of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist in Cambridge, MA, focuses on hospitality ministry, prison ministry, teaching, and soup kitchen/food distribution. The Monastery of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist located in West Newbury, MA, focuses on the ministry of hospitality, study and exercise of sustainable agriculture, land conservation, and outreach programs at local parishes. SERVICE AREA: Cambridge, MA; West Newbury, MA SERVICE LENGTH: Cambridge- 9 months; West Newbury- 11 months. REQUIREMENTS: A strong desire to experience the monastic rhythm of prayer, work and service. At least some college education required; age 21-34 accepted. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENT: Housing, food, transportation, health insurance, and $100/month stipend for incidentals provided.

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Volunteers live in community with other volunteers and religious . Volunteers are provided their own room, fully furnished. PROGRAM SIZE: There is room for four volunteers at Cambridge and four at West Newbury. TRAINING: Training during this year is ongoing. Throughout the year there will be regular mentoring, sessions for spiritual reflection, regular support groups facilitated by a professional, monthly topical workshops, "safe church" training, weekly classes, and guided readings. As Members of the Community of Living Traditions, the multifaith, residential intentional community of Muslims, Jews and Christians on campus, we learn about and strive to put into practice the legacy of hospitality and strategic nonviolence, justice and earth care that exists within each faith tradition, as we seek ways to support the larger faith-based movement for peace, nonviolence and eco-social justice. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Core responsibilities for volunteers include: tech support, website support, front desk, transportation support, building attendant, gift shop support, housekeeping support, building and grounds support, painting, carpentry and furniture repair, dining room and special event support, gardening support, kitchen support, administrative support, and grant writing. AREA OF SERVICE: Stony Point, NY LENGTH OF SERVICE: Long-term: three months to one year, renewable. Short-term: one to three months. REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must be 18 years old, want to be part of an intentional community, willing to work hard individually with little supervision, and able to work positively with others in a team. They must be comfortable with diverse populations, including LGBTQ, flexible, able to take initiative, self-aware and willing to be self- reflective. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Room and board, weekly stipend of $75, and health care may be provided. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Shared housing or dorm-style room. Meals are shared in the conference center dining room. Our campus also has a one acre farm, an Art Space, a Meditation Space, a labyrinth, and a library. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Long-term: 20-25 volunteers, Short-term: 1-2 volunteers. TRAINING: On-site orientation is provided along with on-the-job training.
