Program staff work with each Vincentian Volunteer to determine a placement that uses their skills and interests to meet the needs of the organization. AREA OF SERVICE: Cincinnati, Ohio LENGTH OF SERVICE: 11 months - late August through late July REQUIREMENTS: Men and women ages 21 to 30 with a college degree or relevant life experience, and a desire to live in a community embodying the Vincentian values of Spirituality, Friendship, and Service. Written application, references, interview. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: Benefits include room and board; monthly living, cell phone, and transportation stipends; medical and renter's insurance; Education Award upon completion of service. LIVING ARRANGEMENTS: Volunteers live together in intentional community in a historic home in Cincinnati's West End neighborhood, blocks from the Outreach Center where they work. SIZE OF PROGRAM: Six to eight volunteers TRAINING: Volunteers participate in a program orientation, receive ongoing job-specific training and support based on their placement, and are matched with a professional mentor who will journey with them through the year. Volunteers participate in mid-year and year- end retreats, in addition to weekly community reflection and monthly leadership development seminars. APPLICATION DEADLINE: We accept applications on a rolling basis with priority given to those postmarked by March 31. Interviews begin in February as completed applications are received. The year provides opportunities to expand the VIP's awareness and application of the Catholic Church's tenets on social justice by living in community, developing relationships in the neighborhood, studying and applying Salesian spirituality to their lives, and doing ministry within north Minneapolis, a low-income and culturally-rich neighborhood just north of downtown Minneapolis. TYPE OF PLACEMENT: Tutoring and literacy programs, soup kitchen and food distribution, Religious education and retreat work, camp counseling and coaching, Peace and Justice advocacy, Hispanic ministry, gardening and groundskeeping, community organizing, and developing immersion experiences for young adults. AREA OF SERVICE: Minneapolis, MN LENGTH OF SERVICE: One year REQUIREMENTS: Women and men between the ages of 21-35 who have finished college or who have taken a year off from their studies to spend a year of direct service to those in need while developing some life skills through simple living in a Christian community and through a relationship with the Visitation Sisters of Minneapolis. FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS: VIP's receive housing, medical insurance, $200 monthly stipend and monthly bus card.
