Assistant Coaches

MIKE RISH - Wide Receivers Coach, 17th Year Mike is beginning hi s 17th season on the Torero staff. He returns to coach the rece ivers, something he has done fo r fifteen of the past sixteen Torero seasons. Mike pl ayed fo r USD from 1979-83 where he posted career numbers that make him one ofthe best rece ivers ever to play at USD -- he ranks second all-time w ith IO I recepti ons, 18 rece iving touchdowns and I, 722 receiv ing yards. He held the schoo l marks in all three career rece iving departments from 1983 through 1997; he was passed recentl y by Torero rece iver Dylan Ching. In 1983 he was selected the team's scholar-athl ete by the ati onal Football Foundation and Co ll ege Ha ll of Fame. In the Toreros nati onally-telev ised game between Occ idental in 1982, Ri sh was named the CBS Chevro let Pl ayer of the Game. Mike graduated from USD w ith an Accounting degree in 1984. He is the Vice President fo r Secondary Marketing for Guild Mortgage Company in San Diego.

KELLY JEFFREY - Quarterbacks & Special Teams Coor., 3rd Year Kell y begins hi s third season w ith the Toreros where he will aga in coach the quarterbacks. Thi s season he a lso takes on additional duti es as Spec ial Teams Coordinator. Prior to USD he was running backs coach for two seasons at Northern State University in South Dakota. During the 1994 and 1995 seasons he was rece ivers coach at Dic kinson State Uni versity. He earned hi s Hea lth and Physica l Education degree from Dick inson in 1996, and later ea rned hi s Master of Science degree in Physica l Educati on from Northern State in 1998. He played quarterback for Southern Oregon between 1990-93 where hi s teams won two league titles in the Mt. Hood Co lumb ia Football Assoc iation.

TIM ANTONGIOVANNI - Running Backs & TE, 2nd Year T im beg ins hi s second season with the Toreros where he wi ll aga in coac h the running backs. He also takes on the add itional ass ignment ofcoaching the tight ends. T im is no stranger to US D football where he pl ayed fo r fo ur seasons ( 1992-95) as a w ide rece iver and running back. A 1996 US D graduate, Tim earned hi s degree in Psyc hology. In 1997 & 1998 he taught Hi story at Frazier Mounta in Hi gh Schoo l in Lebec, Ca li forn ia; and hi s coac hing duti es there included head varsity baseball coach and offensive line/defens ive line coac h for footba ll. Du ring the 1996-97 season he was fres hman ru nning back coac h and head junior varsity baseba ll coach at Garces Memoria l High Schoo l, hi s alma mater, in Bakersfi e ld, Ca liforn ia.

KAEO GOUVEIA - Defensive Backs Coach/1st Year Kaeo begins hi s first season w ith the Toreros where he wi ll assist coac hing the defensive backs. Gouveia played fo r US D the past fo ur seasons earning First Team All-Pi oneer Footba ll League honors the last two years at cornerback. Named the team's Defensive Pl ayer of the Year in 1998 & 1999, Gouve ia leaves th e Torero program as the a ll-time leader in intercepti ons with 12. This past season he started all ten games and fini shed with 49 tack les, 4 pass breakups and 3 intercepti ons. From Ka ilua, Hawai i, Gouve ia prepped at Kamehameha Hi gh Schoo l where he lettered in both foo tball and baseball. In footba ll he earned 2nd Team All -S tate and 2nd Team All-Interscho lasti c League of Hono lulu honors. He is on sc hedul e to compl ete hi s undergraduate degree in Business (Marketing) thi s coming year. JOE ROSIELLO - Defensive Line Coach/1st Year

Joe begins hi s first season w ith the Toreros where he w ill coach the defen sive line. He brings a wea lth of coac hing ex peri ence w ith hi s most recent stop at th e Coast Guard Academy where he was defensive line coach the past two seasons. He also gained coac hing experi ence at Ho ly Cross in 1997, assisting th e linebacke rs; he coac hed th e offensive line at Fordham in 1996; and he was a student ass ista nt fo r the offensive line at Boston Uni versity in 1995. . A 1996 graduate of Boston Uni versity where he ea rn ed hi s B.S . degree in Phys ica l Ed uca ti on (Human Movement), Joe pl ayed two seasons at BU in 199 1-92 as a defe nsive lineman. From Brook lyn, ew Yo rk, he attended Stuyvesant Hi gh Schoo l where he ea rned two va rsity letters in foo tba ll and grad uated in 199 1.
