Jubilee Day Nursery & Jubilee Gems Creating magical childhood memories

Ofsted, it has been reported how enthusiastic the children are upon entering the nurseries and how quickly they settle. Senior nursery manager Lesley Thompson says that many people talk about a ‘gut feeling’ when they are looking for a nursery. “We like to think the warmth of our team and our environments contribute to that. “Jubilee value the importance of providing a caring, safe learning environment where your child will be happy, nurtured and encouraged to achieve their potential. “Not only will they be ready for primary school, they will also develop confidence and a love for learning. “We often receive comments from primary school teachers who tell us they can recognise ‘Jubilee children’. “If you haven’t already done so, please do come and visit our nurseries – we have an open-door policy.” If you would like your family to be a part of the Jubilee experience book a visit to see Jubilee Gems Day Nursery (term-time only) Jubilee Day Nursery (full-time) Email: info@jubileegems.co.uk, info@jubileedaynursery.co.uk Tel: (0118) 983 4 018 or (0118) 970 1600 first-hand the fantastic opportunities on offer.

THE team at Jubilee believe that childhood should be just that – an exciting adventure, a time for children to discover, explore and investigate the world around them. When looking for a nursery, you want to be sure that your child will be loved, supported and given the best possible start in life. This is at the heart of the ethos at Jubilee. Conveniently situated in Padworth, between Newbury, Reading and Basingstoke, Jubilee Day Nursery and Jubilee Gems provide exceptional care for babies and children up to five years of age. The two nurseries are independent and offer term-time and full-time provision respectively. Set in 60 acres of open countryside, private woodland and a working farm, the Jubilee name has become synonymous with high-quality outdoor learning. There are endless opportunities for children to make dens, climb trees and learn new skills with the Forest School leader or even care for the animals with Farmer Pete. Such experiences provide a unique way of building confidence and self-esteem while promoting independence. Jubilee are passionate about ‘learning by doing’. Children are given the time and

space to explore in a safe environment with caring and highly-skilled practitioners close at hand to support children’s individual needs and development. Both nurseries follow the Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS) curriculum, with specific areas of learning and development, including literacy, maths,

understanding the world and art and design. Activities are carefully selected for every stage of development, whether that be through exploring sounds and extending vocabulary, mark making, messy play, singing or dressing up and role playing. Children from two-and-a-half years of age are introduced to

concepts such as a healthy lifestyle and are offered the opportunity to participate in a fun weekly fitness programme specifically designed for this age group. Pre-school children have dedicated free-flow spaces leading into their own outdoor space, designed to promote and encourage independence.

It’s here that Jubilee’s highly-skilled team prepare the children for their eventual move to ‘big school’. The children learn about topical festivities and enjoy visiting the dedicated ‘Learning Hub’ where they really get to grips with phonics through fun sessions and educational games. ELSTREE Nursery and Pre-Prep in Woolhampton, Berkshire is set within the idyllic grounds of Elstree School’s 150 acres. Founded more than 20 years ago, it provides a stimulating environment for children aged three to seven to be nurtured and inspired. With a newly-refurbished and extended Early Years barn, garden, offices and entrance, Elstree Nursery and Pre-Prep has places for 70 girls and boys. Energetic, enthusiastic and qualified staff work hard to ensure that every child is valued and encouraged to explore and develop their talents. As this is often a child’s first experience of education, the transition from home to school is supported with home visits and taster days. This warm and homely approach is based upon the family principles of Elstree School. With access to extensive grounds and facilities, the Early Years children spend every week outdoors exploring the natural environment. This involves anything from sharing a hot chocolate and picnic around a campfire, to caring for their produce in the vegetable garden or having fun in the giant sandpit. Other weekly activities include cooking, PE, drama, music, art and learning French.

Regular trips relating to their topics are taken. They have recently visited Wellington Country Park, Marwell Zoo and a local garden centre to purchase seeds for their vegetable garden. Parents are positively encouraged to become actively

involved in their children’s learning and termly events for parents are held. There is also an afternoon for grandparents, as well as parent afternoons for Nursery and Reception, and the Den Building Day in the summer term is a firm favourite.

From September 2020, Elstree School will become fully co-educational. Girls and boys can begin their journey in Nursery and smoothly transition through Pre-Prep to Prep until the end of Year 8. Elstree Nursery and Pre-Prep are hosting their next Open Morning

on Saturday, October 12, at 10am. To book your place, visit www.elstreeschool.org.uk or contact the Registrar on (0118) 710 3302. For those not able to make the October Open Morning, there is another opportunity on Saturday, February 29, 2020.

Hungerford Pre-nursery and Nursery School Discover affordable, excellent Early Y ears education on your doorstep

PARENTS and carers want the early years of their child’s life to be full of fun and wonder – exploring the world around them, while picking up skills, behaviours and attitudes that will help them be the best they can be. As a nursery school without a catchment, designed with excellence and affordability in mind, you are invited to book a visit to see for yourselves. The approach at Hungerford Nursery School is to nurture that sense of natural curiosity and encourage children in their exploration and learning. Highly-qualified staff provide the context and nurturing relationship that turn your little explorers into lifelong learners. Ofsted inspections have strongly supported this approach, with the last four Ofsted inspections (2009-2017) awarding the nursery the top mark of ‘Outstanding’. From the start, the close-knit team will begin to build a relationship with you and your child. This allows learning and behaviour to be in sync across home and school. Ofsted observed: “Keyworkers form close and effective relationships with children quickly. This helps children to feel secure and benefit from this high quality support.” Parents value these strong and

earned Hungerford Nursery School an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Children’s Food Trust in 2017. The nursery also holds the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark award, which means they are focused on supporting children’s literacy and numeracy. This gives the children a strong foundation and advantage in maths and language when they start school. At its last Ofsted inspection, the Inspector said: “You set high expectations for children’s achievements and continually strive to exceed these. You expect staff to challenge and extend learning. As a result, most children’s attainment exceeds the standards expected for their age.” So what made one parent say, “If he was allowed to, my son would come on Saturdays and Sundays” and another share, “I could not have wished for a better foundation for my children”? Children are at the heart of Hungerford Nursery and staff are passionate about learning and warmly encourage children to be the best they can be in the safe, supportive and exciting environment. Rocking Horse Nursery

THE Rocking Horse Nursery has had a fantastic summer – a great start to the new academic year. The nursery, which looks after little ones from babies right up to the time they start school, is based within the beautiful Newbury Racecourse estate. Established in 1992, the nursery moved into a specialist designed building which includes six age-related playrooms, landscaped gardens, a library, sensory room and a children- sized kitchen. The children play in the gardens all year round, with each playroom enjoying direct access to outside and the age-relevant toys. There are mud kitchens, sandpits and shade in all areas. This summer the children welcomed the addition of a boat – that really brought row-row-row your boat to life. The summer also meant the greenhouse was full to the brim with fresh produce, which the children have grown and harvested and then prepared in the kitchen and eaten for lunch and tea. Some crops were more successful than others. One of the great features of the nursery is the children’s kitchen. It has been specially designed with surfaces and equipment at the right size and height for the children. It makes the environment incredibly safe and interesting for the little ones.

after their needs from breakfast through to tea, via morning and afternoon naps. Playtimes are fun and teach the little ones social skills and introduce them to their first best friends. Each of the playrooms is light and airy, with high ceilings and lots of natural light, but the children don’t spend their whole day in the one room. The nursery has a well-stocked library, with fiction and non-fiction books and magazines as well as story and rhyme sacks. The staff love to take the children to the library for story time or to search for something specific and from here encourage a love of books in the children. The purpose-built sensory room is loved by children across the nursery. The babies can crawl around the soft tactile environment, learning and taking in all the new feelings, while the older children enjoy the room to let off steam, see visitors such as Zoolab, but also take some time out for quiet activities. The team at the Rocking Horse Nursery would love to show you around and introduce you to all the happy smiley children they look after.
