Maunakea Summit & Stars ** • Enjoy a private picnic dinner at the Maunakea Girl Scout Camp, located at 6,500 feet elevation. • Delight in the awe-inspiring sunset at the top of Maunakea at 13,796 feet elevation, the highest point in the Pacific. • Stand amidst the world’s largest collection of research telescopes. • Sip hot chocolate during your private star show at 9,000 feet elevation via an 11” Celestron telescope. • Departs from Kona • Summit access closed as of 7/15/19 due to TMT Telescope work. Re-opening of summit is TBD. Our tour visits the slopes of Mauna Kea in the interim - Sunset & Stargazing Tour • See the night sky on the slope of Maunakea before • the day’s first light • Take in the sunrise at the top of Maunakea, amidst the world’s largest collection of research telescopes • Enjoy breakfast at the Maunakea Girl Scout Camp • Venture up to the summit for the last glimpse of the night’s sky and the dawning of a new day • Departs from Kona & Hilo • Tour is currently suspended due to summit closure.
