New   Secrets of Tanzania  AN EXCLUSIVE SAFARI WITH KINGSLEY HOLGATE AND BRAD HANSEN TOURING | 13 OR 14 DAYS · GROUP

T  housands of wildebeests urgently dash across the Mara River, hoping to avoid the thrashing jaws of colossal Nile crocodiles that lie in wait. Huge herds of giraffes and zebras glide over vast green plains while vultures circle and leopards lurk. These are some of the riveting displays of nature’s poignancy and power found in Tanzania. Our latest safari ventures breathlessly close to the wildlife drama during two carefully chosen periods of the year to showcase game viewing at its best. Kingsley Holgate and Brad Hansen (turn to page 57 for more on these legendary gents) lead us through exclusive private reserves and brilliant national parks, off-roading to secret spots and traveling deeper on foot during day and twilight hours, all the while buzzing with their encyclopedic knowledge and charismatic rapport, borne of many shared adventures. Our March edition revels in new life in the southern Serengeti, where wildebeests synchronize the dropping of their calves to overwhelm predators and give their babes a better chance at survival. It also lingers at the marvelously green Ngorongoro Crater, tracking black rhinos among much else. Our October departure heads to a mobile camp in the northern Serengeti for front-row seats to thrilling river crossings as animals seek grazing grounds at any cost. It also extends far south to capture little-visited
