The President nominated the following members to be Scrutineers of Ballot for election of Council, to be held on 23rd November next: Mr. F. G. Sharpe, Mr. H. G. Sweetman, Mr. H. H. Maxwell, Mr. Desmond J. Collins, and Mr. Thomas Jackson. THE PRESIDENT, addressing the meeting, said : Since our last half-yearly meeting I regret to say we have lost many members of our profession by death. Some of these gentlemen were so closely connected with the work of our Society that it is due to their memory I should make a special reference to them. Mr. Joseph MacDermott was a member of the Council from 1912 to 1928, and filled the office of President in the year 1922-1923. Up to his death he was Chairman of the Solicitors' Benevolent Association, in which he took a deep interest. Mr. Earle Bland was a member of the Council from 1892 to 1912 and a Vice-President in the year 1897-98. Mr. Philip O'SuUivan was one of the most prominent of our country members. He filled the office of Vice-President in 1933-34, and was a member of the Council from 1929 up till his death. He was held in the highest regard by all who knew him, and his death is sincerely mourned by his colleagues on the Council. Mr. William Murphy, of Cork, was one of the oldest members of our profession, and was an extra-ordinary member of the Council from 1924 to 1930. Mr. Sutton and Mr. William

HALF-YEARLY GENERAL MEETING A Half-yearly General Meeting of the Society was held on Monday, 18th May, at the Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin, the President (Mr. Michael E. McAuliffe, R. J. Dodd, T. D. McLoughlin, C. J. Joyce, C. T. Blair White, J. D. Hollinger, H. E. M. Wolfe Flanagan, C. J. Gore-Grimes, D. Moran, B. J. Scales, J. G. O'Connor, James J. Hickey, James J. O'Connor, L. G. C. Lett, P. C. Moore, J. P. J. Smyth, T. Jackson, A. E. Walker, and R. G. Kenny. The Secretary read the notice convening the meeting and the minutes of the Half- yearly General Meeting held on the 26th November, 1935, the latter of which were signed by the President. On the motion of Mr. Mallins, seconded by Mr. Peter Scales, the following resolution was unanimously adopted : " That Mr. T. A. Ireland, Mr. P. Glynn and Mr. A. E. Prentice be appointed Auditors of the Society's Accounts for year ending 30th April, 1936."
