SOLICITORS' ANNUAL CERTIFICATES. Members are reminded that Annual Certifi cates for the year ending the fifth day of January, 1940, should be taken out and the duties paid thereon before the sixth day of February, 1939. MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL. 8th December. Twenty-eight members present. Election of President and Viee-President. The Council elected Mr. Daniel J. Reilly to be President of the Society, and Mr. Patrick R. Boyd and Mr. John R. Brennan to be Vice-Presidents for the ensuing twelve months. A letter was read from the Chief Justice re-appointing those members of the Council who served last year upon the Statutory Committee to be the Statutory Committee for year ending 26th November, 1939. Estates Duties. A further letter was read from the Con troller in reply to suggestions made by 15th December. Twenty members present. Statutory Committee.

THE INCORPORATED LAW SOCIETY OF NORTHERN IRELAND. Mr. Robert Watts, 13 Donegall Square, Nth., Belfast, has been elected President of the Society for 1938-39. THE SOUTHERN LAW ASSOCIATION. Mr. Maurice O'Connor, of 62 South Mall, Cork, has been elected President of the Association for 1938-39. OBITUARY. MR. WILLIAM KNIGHT ROCHE, Solicitor, died on the 13th December, 1938, at his residence, 35 Belgrave Square, Monkstown, Co. Dublin. Mr. Roche served his apprenticeship with the late Sir George Roche, Dublin, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1903, and practised at 17 Westland Row, Dublin, up to 1912, when he retired.
