MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL. 8th June. Twenty-three members present. District Probate Registrars. A letter in reply was read from the Minister for Justice in reference to the law in relation to the making of appointments to the office of District Probate' Registrar. The con sideration of the letter and of the question dealt with therein, was referred to a special committee of the Council. Proceedings before the Controller of Industrial and Commercial property. A report from the Privileges Committee of the Council, in reference to the question of Council appearing before the Controller without the intervention of a solicitor, was submitted, and it was resolved to request the Chairman of the Bar Council to meet the President of this Society and the Chairman of the Dublin Sessions Bar to discuss the matter. 29th June. Twenty-five members present. Probate Office—High Court. The President informed the Council that he had, as requested by the Council, an interview with Mr. Justice Hanna on the

subject of the great delay in the furnishing of sealed and certified copies of grants bespoken from the Probate Office, for the purpose of making application for English grants. The Judge expressed himself sym pathetic with the profession in this matter, and stated he would give the matter immed iate attention. Court of Examiners. A report from the Court of Examiners, giving the results of the Intermediate and of the First and Second Irish Examinations, was submitted. OBITUARY. MR. JAMES J. MULLAN, Solicitor, died on the 12th June, 1939, at his residence, Sandy- mount Castle, Dublin. Mr. Mullan served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. King Houston, Omagh, was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1898, and practised at 25 Eustace Street, Dublin.

MR. DAVID G. NELIGAN, Solicitor, died on the 18th June, 1939, at 22 Lansdowne Road, Dublin.
