MR. GEORGE PHILIP GIRLING, Solicitor, died on the 14th November, 1939, at his residence, Burnbrae House, Portadown. Mr. Girling served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. M. Tobias, Dublin, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1896, and practised at Portadown. MR. NICHOLAS HEALY, Solicitor, died on the 18th November, 1939, at his residence, Maiden Hill, Kilkenny. Mr. Heah' served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Michael Buggy, Kilkenny, was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1903, and practised at Kilkenny. MR. WILLIAM P. MAGUIRE, Solicitor, died on the 22nd November, 1939, at Dublin. Mr. Maguire served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. John F. Wray, Enniskillen, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1901, and practised as a member of the firm of Maguire and Herbert, at Enniskillen. MR. JAMES A. DENNING, formerly a Solicitor, died on the 25th November, 1939, at his residence, 45 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin. Mr. Denning was admitted a Solicitor in Michaelmas Sittings, 1886, and practised as a member of the firm of Hoey and Denning, at Dublin and Tullamore up to 1914, when he was appointed a Taxing Master of the High Court of Justice, which office he occupied up to 1936, when he retired.

THE PRESIDENT. The Council elected, on the 7th December, Mr. Henry P. Mayne, of 6 Dawson Street, Dublin, to be President of the Society for the ensuing twelve months. The newly-elected President was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1902. He was elected as a member of the Council in 1926, and was a Vice-President of the Society for 1930-31. THE VICE-PRESIDENTS. The Council has elected Mr. James F. D'Arcy of Tipperary, and Mr. Cecil G. Stapleton of 29 Molesworth Street, Dublin, to be Vice-Presidents of the Society for the ensuing twelve months. OBITUARY. MR. JAMES P. PLENDERLEITH, Solicitor, died on the 27th October, 1939, at his residence at Balmoral, Belfast. Mr. Plenderleith served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Charles \V. Black, Belfast, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1925, and practised at Lisbn.rn Road, Belfast. MR. RICHARD T. TWEEDY, Solicitor, died on the 5th November, 1939, in Dublin. Mr. Tweedy served his apprenticeship with his brother, the late Mr. Henry R. Tweedy, Dublin, was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1901, and practised as a member of the firm of McMahon and Tweedy, 13 Hume Street, Dublin, up to 1937, when he retired.
