MR. THOMAS A. IRELAND, Solicitor, died on the 27th March, 1940, at " Erinagh," Kerrymount Avenue, Foxrock, Co. Dublin. Mr. Ireland served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Charles A. Stanuell, Dublin, was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1904, and practised under the style of Stanuell & Son, at 16 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin. Mr. Ireland rendered valuable services to the Society in acting for many years as one of the auditors of the accounts. SOLICITORS' (IRELAND) ACT, 1898. An Order was made by the Hon. the Chief Justice, upon the hearing of a Report made by the Committee appointed under Section 34 of the Solicitors' (Ireland) Act, 1898, on the 12th April, directing the name of James A. Keohane, of Loughrea, County Galway, to be struck off the Roll of Solicitors. An Order was made by the Hon. the Chief Justice, upon the hearing of a Report made by the Committee appointed under Section 34 of the Solicitors' (Ireland) Act, 1898, on the 12th April, directing the name of Leonard E. M. Downes, of Carrick-on- Shannon, County Leitrim, to be struck off the Roll of Solicitors.

First and Second Irish Examinations will be held on 7th and 8th June. Notices of intention to attend to be lodged before 17th May.

CALENDAR. The Calendar of the Society for 1940 can be obtained in the Secretary's Office, price five shillings ; by post, five shillings and sixpence.

ADVERTISEMENT. The Practice of the late Mr. T. A. Ireland, Solicitor, under the name of Messrs. Stanuell & Son, has been acquired, as from First April, 1940, by Mr. L. G. Carr Lett, Solicitor, formerly of 23 Ely Place, Dublin, who will practise at 16 St. Stephen's Green under the name of Messrs. Stanuell & Son. Costs due to the late Mr. Ireland's Estate will be collected by Mr. L. G. Carr Lett, and all claims against the said Estate should be notified to Messrs. French & French, Solici tors for the Administratrix, 7, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin.

JUNE EXAMINATIONS, 1940.

An Intermediate Examination will be held on 4th June. Notice of intention to attend to be lodged before 14th May.
