MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL.

BALLOT FOR COUNCIL. The ballot for election of Council will be held on Monday, 23rd November, from eleven o'clock to one o'clock, in the Secretary's Office, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts Dublin. Voting papers should reach the Secretary not later than one o'clock on Monday, 23rd November. GENERAL MEETING A Half-yearly General Meeting of the Society will be held at half-past two o'clock p.m., on Thursday, 26th November, in the Hall of the Society, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin. I OBITUARY. MR. JOHN J. O'CONNOR, Tralee, died on the 23rd August, 1936, at his residence, North Circular Road, Tralee. Mr. O'Connor served his apprenticeship with Mr. Daniel J. Browne, Tralee ; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1930, and practised at Tralee till 1931, when he retired. MR. NICHOLAS F. MAKER, Solicitor, died on the 17th September, 1936, at his residence, " Pegsboro'," Tipperary. Mr. Maher served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. John O'Dwyer, Tipperary ; was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1905, and practised at Tipperary.

A letter was read from the Secretary, American Bar Association, expressing the appreciation and reciprocation of that Association of the fraternal greetings from the Council of this Society conveyed through the Hon. Mr. Justice Hanna, on the occasion of his recent visit to the United States. Intermediate Examination. A memorandum from the Chief Justice expressing his approval of the Council's amendment of Regulation 14 was submitted. the Attorney-General intimating that, in response to the request of the Council, he would endeavour to secure that when application for his fiat is made by a solicitor, all com– munications concerning the subject-matter of the application shall be made to the Solicitor who is acting for the proposed plaintiff.
