Mr. Liston served his apprenticeship with his brother, the late Mr. Patrick T. Liston, Rathkeale; was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1896, and practised at Tralee. Miss IRENE E. McCoY, Solicitor, died on the 19th February, 1937, at Waterford. Miss McCoy served her apprenticeship with her father, the late Mr. Archibald S. McCoy, Waterford ; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1934, and practised as a member of the firm of Dobbyn and McCoy, at 5 Colbeck Street, Waterford. MR. ARTHUR S. V. KNOX, Solicitor, died on the 6th January, 1937. Mr. Knox served his apprenticeship with Mr. Joseph Lockhart, Lisburn, Co. Antrim; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1909, and practised at Aghalee up to 1916, when he retired. ADJUDICATION OF DEEDS. At the request of the Council the President recently visited the Inland Revenue Ad– judication Department with a view to discussing the matter of delays in the adjudication of instruments tendered for assessment of duty. The President learned that there had been delays in the working of the office, caused chiefly through a vacancy having occurred by reason of the death of the Head of the Department, that the arrears had now been nearly wiped out, and that every effort would be made to avoid delays in future, and the President received an assurance from the new Head of the Department that his willing staff were prepared to do^ every– thing possible to expedite matters. The Head of the Department also mentioned that the office is not responsible for delays in all cases : that in March, 1934, a memorandum had been issued from the Department to all Solicitors in the Free State giving the particulars required in connection with adjudication of deeds, and that in many cases Solicitors had paid no regard whatever to the suggestions contained in this memorandum. It was resolved that tenders be invited for the printing of a revised Library Catalogue, a copy of which is to be sent to each member of the Society. Special Examiner. The Council elected Mr. Joseph F. Shields, B.A. (Mod.), LL.B., T.C.D., Solicitor, to be a Special Examiner at Intermediate and Final Examinations of the Society, in room of Mr. J. Malvern White, resigned. District Court. Letters acknowledging the receipt of the resolution passed by the Council on the llth inst. were received from the Minister for Justice, Mr. Cussen and Mr. O'Connor. SPOTSWOOD R. BOWLES, Solicitor, the 2nd February, 1937, at his residence Clonlea, Dundrum, Co. Dublin. Mr. Bowles was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1888, and practised as a member of the firm of Bowles and French at 32 Nassau Street, Dublin, up to 1931, when he retired. MR. JAMES QUAIL, Solicitor, died on the 4th February, 1937, at Belfast. Mr. Quail served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Wellington Young, Belfast; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1892, and practised at 81 High Street, Belfast. He was Under-Sheriff of Belfast from 1902 to 1934. MR. TERENCE J. LISTON, Solicitor, died on the 15th February, 1937, at his residence, Ballard House, Tralee. died on OBITUARY. MR.
