OBITUARY. MR. FREDERICK M. J. LYONS, Solicitor, died on the 5th April, 1937, at Kilkenny. Mr. Lyons served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. John Clark and Mr. W. H. Spence, of Dublin ; was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1906, and practised as a member of the firm of Poe and Lyons, at Kilkenny. He was a member of the Council from 1932 to 1936. MR. PATRICK MCNAMARA, Solicitor, died at Ballincragga, Foynes, Co. Limerick. Mr. McNamara was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1880, and practised at Limerick up to 1892, when he retired. MR. R. BARRY MEGLAUGHLIN, M.B.E., Solicitor, died on the 13th April, 1937, at his residence, " Gortmerron," Belfast. * Mr. Meglaughlin was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1891, and practised at Dungannon up to 1922, when he was appointed Taxing Master of the Supreme Court, Northern Ireland, from which position he retired in 1935. MR. WILLIAM H. HALPIX, Solicitor, died on the 17th April, 1937, at his residence, Ford Lodge, Cavan. Mr. Halpin was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1886, and practised as a member of the firm of Alien and Halpin, at Cavan. He was Provincial Delegate for Ulster on the Council from 1923 to 1927. PROFESSORSHIP OF COMMON LAW. The Council invite applications for the office of Professor of Common Law to the Society- Particulars of duties can be obtained from the Secretary. The newly-elected Professor will enter on his duties next October. The appointment will be made for one year, and the person appointed will be eligible for yearly re- appointment for each of the four succeeding years. Applications from practising Barristers or Solicitors will be received up to the 18th June, and should be addressed to the Secretary, Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, Solicitors' Buildings, Four Courts, Dublin, N.W.8.

EXAMINATIONS RESULTS. At the Preliminary Examination held on the 12th and 13th April, the following passed the examination, and their names are arranged in order of merit: 1. Nicholas J.
