Mr. Sutton served his apprenticeship with with Mr. William J. Ellis, Dublin : was admitted in Michaelmas Sittings, 1909, and practised at 74 Dame Street, Dublin. MR. ROBERT W. SHERLOCK, Solicitor, died on the 10th May, 1937, at Bandon, Co. Cork. Mr. Sherlock was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1889, and practised at Bandon. MR. JOHN P. HARRIS, Solicitor, died on the 15th May, 1937, at his residence, Stewartstown, Co. Tyrone. Mr. Harris was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1880, and practised at Stewartstown. MR. WILLIAM ALEXANDER, Solicitor, died on the 18th May, 1937, at his residence, " Strathavon," Belfast. Mr. Alexander served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. James A. Love, Belfast; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1896, and practised at 5 Lombard Street, Belfast. APPOINTMENT. Mr. Patrick A. Arkins, Solicitor, Galway, has been appointed County Registrar for County Longford, in room of Mr. George F. Montgomery, Solicitor, retired. NEW MEMBERS. for Local Government and Public Health, and pointed out the obvious objections to such salaries being offered to whole-time officers, and the views of the deputation were received and are to be placed before the Minister, and I am not without hope that these views will be effective. The Council continues to give attention to the multifarious duties cast upon it, and to look with great care after the education of those entering the profession. I thank my colleagues on the Council for the assistance they have readily given to me in the carrying on of the work of my office of President, and I also thank the Secretary for his indefatigable help. MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. 27th May. Twenty-six members present. Courts of Justice Act, 1936. It was resolved that a letter be written to the President of the High Court in reference to the requirements of Section 84 of this Act. Local Registration of Title (Ireland) Act, 1891. A letter was read from the Registrar enclosing a draft of registration rules pro– posed to be submitted to the Local Registra– tion of Title Rules Committee. The rules were referred to a committee for consideration. PRESENTATION. The members of the County Carlow Bar Association have made a presentation to their colleague, Mr. John J. Duggan, which consists of a silver cup, after the style of the Ardagh Chalice. The cup bears the signatures of the donors, and the following inscription : "Presented to Mr. John J. Duggan by his " colleagues of the County Solicitors' Bar " Association to commemorate his election " as President of the Incorporated Law " Society of Ireland, Easter Law Term, " 1937." OBITUARY. MR. WILLIAM H. SUTTON, Solicitor, died died on the 5th May, 1937, at his residence, 42 Terenure Road, Dublin.
