of amendments of the Local Registration of Title (Ireland) Act, 1891, which in his capacity of member of the Local Registration of Title Rules Committee, nominated by the Council, he had received from the Registrar of Titles. A special committee of the Council was appointed to assist Mr. Mayne in con sidering these amendments, and to consider other amendments suggested by Mr: Mayne relating to registration of deeds. Carbon Typing Paper. A letter was read from a firm of solicitors drawing attention to the inferior quality of the carbon typing paper now being supplied in Eire. It was resolved to draw the attention of the Minister for Industry and Commerce to the inferior qualities both of carbon paper and of ribbons for typing purposes being now supplied in Eire, and to the excessive prices being charged for both articles. OBITUARY. MR. JAMES J. BLAKE, Solicitor, died on the 13th February, 1938, at Cork. Mr. Blake served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Richard Hayes, Cork; was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1919, and practised at 59 South Mall, Cork.

MEETINGS OF THE COUNCIL. 3rd February. Twenty members present. Land Acts. A letter was read in reply from the President of the High Court stating that the rooms at present in use for sittings of the Appeal Tribunal in Upper Merrion Street are about to be converted into a proper court room. 24th February. Twenty-two members present. Seanad Election. The Council selected Mr. Thomas W. Delany (President of the Society), of Long ford, and Mr. John J. Horgan (an Extra ordinary Member of the Council), of Cork, as candidates for election, on the Cultural and Educational Panel, as members of the Seanad. High Court on Circuit. The President reported to the Council that he had an interview with the Chief Justice and the President of the High Court in reference to the hearing of appeals before the High Court about to go on Circuit.
