IN 2017, SPEECH PATHOLOGY AUSTRALIA OFFERED A TOTAL OF 80 FACE-TO-FACE EVENTS INCLUDING THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE, CPD WORKSHOPS, PRIVATE PRACTICE SEMINARS, AND BRANCH EVENTS, WITH A TOTAL OF 3,700 EVENT REGISTRATIONS. IN ADDITION, THERE WERE 12 ONLINE EVENTS OFFERED.

National Conference The 2017 National Conference had a record number of registrants for a Speech Pathology Australia Conference with over 1,124 attendees. Delegates attended keynote, clinical and research presentations and workshops across a large range of practice areas. Over half of the registered number of delegates were tweeting – a new record too which extended the reach of the Conference. Online member communities Online (Facebook) Member Communities covering a wide range of areas of practice – clinical areas, career stage, and geographic location − continued to flourish. The numbers for Member Communities as at the start of January 2018 were at a record high: • Apps = 2,462 • Early Career = 1,092 • Ageing and Aged Care = 557 • Disability = 1,229 • Justice = 364 • Mental Health = 381

CPD live online The range of areas covered in SPA’s online CPD Live program has been extensive and included clinical and non-clinical topics related to speech pathology practice. There were 12 webinars that ran in 2017, including four that were free to SPA members, with three of these still open for registration: • The NDIS, starting at the very beginning - Do I want to get in? By Anna Pannuzzo, Workplace Plus • All you need to know about the Speech Pathology Australia Mentoring Program by Dr Meredith Prain, SPA’s Professional Support Advisor As at the end of 2017, there were 24 SPA CPD Live events that are open for registration – 3 to yet run Live and 21 available to view the Recordings. CPD workshops Of the total of 61 SPA PD events offered in 2017, there were 49 workshops with nearly all being one or two days in length, plus 12 CPD live online events of 90 minutes in length. The average “Quality of presentation” rating for Branch events was an exceptionally high 4.8 out of a maximum possible of 5. National Tour The 2017 SPA National Tour was Dr Tanya Serry presenting on Speech Pathology in the literacy domain: From prevention to intervention. There were a total of 11 workshops that ran in every state and territory – ACT, NT, TAS, SA and WA, and repeat workshops due to demand in VIC, NSW, and QLD. The majority of these workshops were sold out (including the repeats which all sold out again!) with a total of 429 registrants across the 11 workshops. Tanya also presented a SPA CPD Live online event with 55 registrations for the Live event and ongoing registrations for the recording.

Pre-recorded CPD Pre-recorded CPD includes the CPD Events Library which contains resources specifically developed for the library. These include Independent Study Resources, and recordings of SPA CPD workshops, such as the National Tours across a number of years. In 2017, 102 items were hired from the CPD Events Library. In addition, there are two Independent study resources available at no charge to members that have been, or are in the process of being, updated: the Ethics Education Package and the Evidence- Based Practice Independent Study Resource.
