The NDIS/Practice and Clinical Support Advisor position has been extended until December 2018. Erin West is currently in this role and can be contacted by members who have questions about all NDIS matters and is also able to offer ongoing support for speech pathologists working in private practice. Erin has developed a series of documents around the NDIS including: • an NDIS Price Table, • a FAQ document about the NDIS and • an NDIS Report Writing Guide. These documents can be found on the NDIS page of the SPA website. The NDIS Price Table outlines “Who can charge what?” under the NDIS. In summary: • Registered providers are bound by the NDIS pricing guide, with prices capped for certain services as set by the NDIA. This is regardless of whether the participant is self-managed, NDIS managed, or plan managed by a third party. There are different prices set for individual vs group therapy sessions, as well as for supports for early childhood, or for participants over seven. • Non-registered providers are able to set their own fees independent of the pricing guide, however, they are unable to see NDIS managed participants. They are able to see self-managed or plan managed participants, but third-party plan managers may only be willing to pay as per the limits within the pricing guide. Non-registered providers should still be transparent about their costs and have these agreed upon by the participant or third-party plan manager. NDIS Quality and Safeguarding framework This is the set of standards that providers of NDIS supports are expected to meet in order to provide services to participants. You can access it online at https://goo.gl/DZsxuM. It will be piloted in South Australia and New South Wales, commencing 1 July 2018, with the rest of Australia expected to transition by June 2019, and it will impact both existent and newly applying registered providers. Please contact either Cathy Olsson (National Advisor for Disability) on colsson@speechpathologyaustralia.org.au or Erin West (NDIS/ Clinical practice and support advisor) on advisor@ speechpathologyaustralia.org.au if you have further queries.
