581 A stampless cover from Foochow to Hong Kong, per Steamer Carthagi, on front tied by the unusual bilingual double ring solid red ‘FOO-CHOW-FOO/CHINA’ cancel, with manuscripted rate ‘4’ in red, with the cancel on reverse, with contents in Arabica or Persian, with a small tear at the top, minor toning and ageing. This cancellation has not been listed in any catalogue, very rare. A mixed franking cover from Peking to Montreal, Canada, bearing ICP Coiling Dragon 10c, tied by ‘PEKING’ Dollar chop, plus HK QV 10c purple on red paper, tied by ‘HONG KONG/22.10.98’ cds. On reverse bearing Hsuan Tung First Year 2c block of 15, 3 c, single x 2, pair , strip of 5 and 7c in pair, strip of 4, tied by illegible bilingual ‘KASHING’ cds matching the front cancellation, and faint Norway arrival cds, very scarce multiple franking, and also very late usage of the Imperial China stamps during ROC period.
