The Right Advice for Today’s Market

Volume 11 Number 1

BRINGONTHEVELVET Is there any fabric more luxurious than velvet? In fact, its luxurious nature is what causes it to fall in and out of favour as a home textile. If luxury and extravagance is in – so is velvet. When it’s all about simplicity and minimalism – velvet is out. Except home decor trends have come to a place where the blending of oppositional styles is more than accepted

– it’s celebrated. Velvet is the perfect way to add elegance to a casual space. And with the wide array of colours available, velvet can add drama to a space with a deep burgundy, or earthiness with a moss green. Pillows, furniture, even wall

coverings lend themselves to the touchable nature of velvet. As for caring for the slightly more finicky fabric, use a steamer to remove wrinkles, a lint brush to remove pet fur

and keep it out of direct sunlight, as it does tend to fade.
