Intercollegiate Rowing

LMU .DUAL 3-27~93 · USD

Intercollegiate rowing has become a major sports program at the University of San Diego within the last decade. USD Crew is currently the second largest intercollegiate team on campus (second only to Football) and is comprised almost entirely of walk-on student-atheletes with no prior rowing experience. Over the course of the school year, the team is taught the technical aspects of rowing while training for the spring racing season. Rowing offers students with little or no background in the sport a chance to train and compete at the highest level of collegiate competition. Boathouse/Facilities The University of San Diego crews row out of the Coggeshall Rowing Center, a state-of-the-art facility located just ten minutes from the USD campus on Mission Bay. The USD rowing program offers the latest in rowing equipment with Vespoli racing shells and hatchet oars for all squads. On campus, USD rowers do land and weight training in the Torero weight room. This facility houses our Concept II ergometers as well as complete Nautilus and free-weight equipment. USD rowers regularly have access to athletic trainers for injury treatment. Academic support is also offered to USD atheletes with tutoring and counseling services.
