AVAILABLE TOOLS » » The city has a process in place for all projects deemed affordable which expedites the review process and minimizes any potential delays in the permitting process. » » The city will be reviewing and revising the zoning and subdivision ordinances and look to eliminate regulation which could inhibit affordable housing production or maintenance. » » The city will be adopting a Fair Housing Policy in 2019. » » The city currently has an existing rental licence program and will review the program and policy and revise if deemed necessary. » » The city will consider allowing Accessory Dwelling Units, smaller lot sizes and other incremental density policies which would provide more affordable housing options in traditional single family neighborhoods. » » The city will utilize, when and if available, Community Development Block Grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for all affordable housing needs, whether directly when the city becomes eligible for such funding or through sub allocation from Scott County. » » The city will consider working with the State of Minnesota in allocating HOME funds from HUD for all affordable housing needs within Shakopee. » » The city currently works with Scott County CDA in pursuing all affordable housing projects and will continue to do so in the future.

AVAILABLE TOOLS » » The city is planning to service the Bonnevista Terrace Mobile Home Park with municipal sanitary services in the future. This plan is outlined in the Sanitary Sewer Master Plan. » » The city will not consider a redevelopment proposal of any existing manufactured home park without an acceptable relocation plan for displaced residents. » » The city would consider supporting a Housing Improvement Area (HIA) if the residents of a manufactured housing park sufficiently demonstrate the need and support for such action from the City.
