The AtlantiCare Flexible Spending Account is administered through Baker Tilly. An FSA account provides a tax advantage to the participant by allowing you to pay for qualified medical expenses with non-taxable dollars. These accounts do have some rules and limitations associated with them and are heavily regulated by the IRS due to their non-taxable status. A debit card is provided for you to utilize and is convenient in its ability to be used at the time of service. However, utilizing this card does not necessarily alleviate the need to substantiate claims. Here are a couple of things you should know about the FSA program: • You may need to substantiate your claims when you use your FSA card to purchase services. Be sure to keep your receipts. • There is a list of recognized vendors who have gone through the IRS to be approved to auto-substantiate claims so you do not have to. See http://www.sigis.com to review the list. • The money in this account is tax-free and must be used before the first of the following year. Budget wisely. • You can submit a reimbursement request online through MyFlexDollars.com . MyFlexDollars is a set of tools and resources you can use to manage your funds. • If you do not like to substantiate a number of small claims, hold them and submit all for reimbursement. The check comes within a week. • When trying to determine if something is eligible, consider that eligible expenses are usually items used to treat a condition such as allergies or a headache. Ineligible expenses are usually items that are considered preventive or wellness-oriented such as vitamins. Many times an ineligible expense will be covered if it is accompanied with a provider’s prescription. • The most important thing to remember is that you must use this money by December 31 or you will lose it. Claims can be submitted by March 31 of the following year. However, you must show proof that the eligible expenses were incurred in the previous benefits year (by December 31). Where does this unused money go? The IRS requires these funds to be spent in the year they are funded or they go back to the employer. These funds are then utilized to cover plan administration costs for the next year.

• Dependent Care FSA: A Dependent Care FSA lets you save on dependent care expenses using pretax dollars. Dependent Care expenses can include the following: day care/after school care, summer day camp, and care for dependents with mental or physical disabilities. • Additional resources can be found on the HR Portal: Benefits tab or visit MyFlexDollars.com

The HRA is administered by Baker Tilly. For a list of eligible expenses, log in to your account at MyFlexDollars.com .
