Large diameter PE pipelines welded into long strings

Large diameter water pipeline solutions

solutions for on-shore and off-shore oil and gas transportation pipelines.”

Borouge showcased its broad range of solutions that address the challenge of clean water distribution at the Water World Middle East Conference and Exhibition, held in Qatar in February. The event, with a main theme of ‘focusing on water and wastewater’, was officially opened by HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, minister of energy and industry in Qatar, and attended by engineers, contractors, suppliers and utility organisations from across the Middle East. In his opening speech, the minister highlighted the importance of the conference and exhibition as a platform for discussion of strategic and technical issues and showcasing the latest solutions to meet rising water demands in the region. “Borouge leads the market with pipe solutions for drinking water and sanitation, as well as for distribution and industrial applications and domestic heating and cooling systems,” said Andrew Wedgner, Borouge’s application marketing manager for pipe, in the presentation he delivered during the conference. “We are specialised in providing complete pipeline protection

During the conference, Mr Wedgner introduced the audience to Borouge and its wide range of solutions, focusing on large diameter industrial water pipeline applications in the Middle East, and highlighting the benefits of using pipelines made of polyethylene and polypropylene from Borouge, due to their flexibility, ease of installation, ability to be welded, and being free of corrosion and leakage. “The highly durable nature of PE and PP-HM (polypropylene high modulus) pipes, together with their flexibility, abrasion resistance and ease of installation has increasingly led to their use for large diameter industrial water pipeline applications,” said Mr Wedgner. The ability of both materials to be welded into long strings makes them suitable for industrial undersea intake and outfall pipelines. Both pipe grade materials are now produced within the region. PE100 pipes produced in the Middle East were limited to 800mm outside diameter, but now there are companies who can produce and weld

up to 2,000mm outside diameter, and manufacture structured wall PP-HM pipes of up to 3,500mm inside diameter. In 2007, Borouge and Borealis initiated the global Water for the World™ programme, which fosters local knowledge and partnerships to provide sustainable solutions for the availability of safe water and sanitation. Through this initiative, Borouge has directly reached over 260,000 people all over the world who do not have a proper access to clean water and sanitation by bringing its expertise to community field projects, advancing science and best practices, engaging stakeholders, leveraging its leadership in innovative plastics solutions and promoting water efficiency in its operations.
