The Lamb King

Chapter 12 Israel’s Human King’s and the Nation Divided (1043-931 BC)

When kings like Saul, David and Solomon reigned, Israel still attempted to honor and worship God. When Solomon was king, he had the people construct a beautiful temple in the city of Jerusalem. Within it they placed the Holy Ark of the Covenant, which had traveled with them since their years of wandering in the wilderness. But God warned Solomon that if the nation ceased to obey and trust Him, that He would drive them out of their Promised Land and away from the beautiful temple. Sadly, they did stop trusting and obeying God once again. Even Solomon himself ceased to obey God. Eventually, the nation divided in two, becoming the nations of Israel and Judah, each with kings of their own. Some of the kings began with pure hearts, but like other powerful leaders, many fell into greed and corruption.
