Chapter 17 Baptism in the River (AD 26)

Zechariah’s son, John the Baptist, preached and instructed, “Turn from your sins! Turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is coming.” As the people acknowledged their sins, John baptized them in the river. When Jesus came to where John was baptizing the people, John called Him “the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world”, declaring that Jesus would be our sacrificial lamb. Then John baptized Jesus. When Jesus emerged from the water, the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit came down on Him like a dove, and a voice out of heaven proclaimed, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
