Chapter 20 Jesus —the Rejected King (AD 30)

Not everyone liked what Jesus was teaching, especially the re- ligious leaders. So rather than recognizing and welcoming King Jesus, they plotted His death. Although they were constantly looking for the promised King, they did not recognize Him when He finally came. The King- dom of God, with a humble, loving king was not what they had expected. Rather, as students of the Holy Scriptures they likely expected their Savior King to come in a royal, triumphant manner to restore the Kingdom. They were prideful and leaned on their own understanding rather than place their faith in Him.
