Students went to Poland and visited Auschwitz, while Modern Foreign Languages and History took Sixth Form students to Berlin to practise their German and visit historical sites such as the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and Berlin Holocaust Memorial. Meanwhile, Business Studies have been to Paris. In February we hosted our Sports Partnership indoor athletics festival for our partner primary schools. We had record numbers of students attending and it was a great success. We received many compliments from the primary schools and their parents on not only this event, but the work the Partnership does in the community.

In the closing week of last term we attended the Herts Sport Awards. There are twelve sport partnerships in Hertfordshire working with over 80 secondary schools. As part of this ceremony there is an award for the outstanding secondary school provision for PE and Games – I am delighted to announce that Rickmansworth School won this Award.

Over the half term we had 150 students taking part in our annual ski visit to Italy, as well as a Geography trip to Iceland.

It is in recognition of the excellent PE curriculum we provide and the many hours of extracurricular games offered to students. I would like to personally congratulate the PE Faculty for this well-deserved county recognition and honour. In January we took part in a number of Holocaust Memorial events. Holocaust Survivor Steven Frank came to the School to talk about his experience to Year 9 students, many of whom were moved by his testimony. We have also had a number of residential visits abroad.
