Making square cuts to tubes and hose

BESWICK Engineering Co manufactures the metal-handled TC-1 tube and hose cutter – a precision tool aimed at those who are dissatisfied with the performance of plastic-handled cutters. The cutter is simple to use, makes square cuts, and saves time. It is made from chrome plated metal for strength,

and a plastic coating is applied to the handles to improve feel. The V-shaped head ensures straight cuts and prevents jagged edges. The TC-1 will cut many types of plastic tubing and hose up to approximately 1" OD. Additionally, the blade indexes to provide two cutting edges instead of just

one. If the blade becomes damaged or dull, a replacement blade package is available with ten new blades. Beswick Engineering Co Inc – USA Fax: +1 603 433 3313

Silver inserts cover tube milling tools

Walter GB Limited – UK Fax: +44 1527 839499 Email: service.gb@walter-tools.com Website: www.walter-tools.com

WITHIN a year of the launch of Tiger.tec Silver, tooling company Walter GB has expanded the range of indexable inserts to embrace all its milling tools for steel and cast iron machining. Next on the company’s development agenda are Tiger.tec Silver inserts for drilling and turning, and extensions to the current universal grade of WKP35S that will include grades with higher levels of toughness and hardness. Walter GB states that users are reporting tool life performance increases of up to 100 per cent with Tiger.tec Silver, which features a surface treatment that reduces the in-cycle machining stresses of both wet and dry applications, due to its balanced combination of a high level of toughness and maximised hardness. The result is an insert that will compensate for any brittleness that may develop as a result of the CVD coating process. The CVD-Al 2 O 3 grade coating counters any influence from thermal shock that can lead to thermal cracking at the cutting edge, and minimises tribochemical wear on the flank face. These are key areas that can lead to premature insert failure.

The Tiger.tec Silver designation reflects the insert’s two-tone finish of glossy silver on its flank face and black on the rake angle face. The colour combination provides a practical indication of wear.

Walter Tiger.tec Silver inserts are available for every type

of milling cutter for steel and cast iron machining
