The Schedule page in the Options dialog box contains a variety of options to control how your project is scheduled. On this page, you can indicate if you want to see messages regarding scheduling conflicts and how you want resource assignments displayed. Specify whether new tasks start on the project start date or on the current date. In addition, set how you want duration and work entered. By default, duration is entered in days and work is entered in hours. The default task type is Fixed Units ; however, you can change this to Fixed Duration or Fixed Work as desired. Other available options control project scheduling. You can indicate whether new tasks are effort-driven and whether inserted or moved tasks are linked automatically. Indicate if you want to allow Microsoft Project to split in-progress tasks to reschedule work. If you disable this option, you cannot reschedule the remaining duration and work if a task is not on schedule. In addition, indicate if tasks with negative slack always honor constraint dates. If you deselect this option, tasks with negative slack can be rescheduled according to their relationships instead of their constraint. This page also provides options to control the settings for estimated durations.
