Use the Drawing tool.

If necessary, switch to the Gantt Chart view.

Scroll to view the task bar for the 14 Smooth Foundation task, leaving approximately two and a half inches of blank space to the left of the task bar. In the Format ribbon Drawings group, click the Drawing button..

1. On the Gantt Chart Tools Format ribbon Drawings group, dlick the Drawing button. The Drawings drop-down menu appears.

2. Select the Text Box tool.

Click Text Box .

The mouse pointer changes to a cross.

Drag to draw a rectangle, approximately one inch high and two inches wide, to the left of the task bar for the Smooth Foundation task. Type Overtime shortened the duration of the Smooth Foundation task. Click anywhere outside of the text box to deselect it.

3. Drag to create the line, shape, or text box in the selected location. A dotted line indicates the size and shape of the object, and then the object appears. 4. Enter the text in the text box, if applicable. The text appears in the text box. 5. Click outside of the object to deselect it. The object is deselected.
